Daily Update

The SCI launched SCI News Now about a year ago. It is a daily update feature that is distributed through an email blast Monday through Friday. Content includes upcoming events, breaking news updates, sports scores, death notices, weather forecasts and teasers to that week's print publication. It is currently not a sponsored piece but the intention is that is will be in the future. Photos are added when applicable to add visual appeal. When we attend meetings like city council, county commissioners and school board, we try to include an update in the next day's post. We include event information from our calendar in the print edition. We also include agenda items of upcoming meetings that may be of public interest. State patrol and road construction press releases are often included when available. The update is sent out through an email blast around 6:40 a.m. Monday through Fridays.

Overall, this has probably been the Seward County Independent's most noticeable change over the last year. We have heard a lot of positive feedback about it so we know people are reading. Subscribers have told our staff members that it is often the first thing they read each day, and they appreciate having those daily reminders and updates. Plans are being worked on to sell ads for the update. There is a lot of value in having the exposure it could potentially bring from an advertising standpoint.
